The causes of diabetes are not clear. The factor responsible for diabetes are known as risk factors, an individual must overcome them to prevent diabetes.

Hereditary is one of the causes of diabetes. Parents passes diabetes to their children. Parents who are diabetic should control their blood sugar level to control diabetes and not passing the disease to their children. About 12 percent of the people who are diabetic are due to hereditary reasons.

Obesity is one of the major causes of diabetes. People who are overweight which is not usual as compared with height of an individual is an important factor for diabetes mellitus. Diabetes is divided into two types majorly. Type 1 and type 2 diabetes. Type 1 diabetes is normally seen in young adults and teenagers. In type 1 diabetes insulin is a must dose. So it is called by the names early onset diabetes or insulin dependent diabetes.

Type 2 diabetes is generally seen to people who are above 40 years of age and plus. Obesity is the main cause of diabetes over here. Insulin is not a must dose. So it known by the names adult onset diabetes or non insulin dependent diabetes.

A well balanced diet is must for diabetic people. Diet should not over contain contents like carbohydrates, fats and proteins. Simple carbohydrates should be replaced with complex ones. As simple carbohydrates get converted easily to glucose. Diabetic people should take fruits and vegetables rich in fiber like apple, apricot, banana, raisins, dates, broccoli, carrot, beans, peas.

People who are suffering with diabetes need to quit smoking. Smoking not only increase diabetes. It can be the cause for diabetes.

Diabetes diagnosis is done normally by two tests, Urine and blood tests. Urine test shows samples of glucose in it and blood test are done in three ways and in all the ways the normal blood glucose level is high and above normal range.

Physical activities is must of diabetic people as stagnated or sedentary kind of life leads to diabetes. Exercises like running, skipping, and swimming are proved to good for diabetic persons.
