Diabetes is mainly classified into two major types i.e. Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes. The other major type is Gestational diabetes. Young adults and teenagers are more victims of Type 1 diabetes. So it is also as known as Juvenile diabetes. For type 1 diabetic patients Insulin is a must medication advised by the doctors
Type 1 diabetes is mainly due to autoimmune system of the body which destroys the pancreas beta cells. Pancreas consists of mainly four types of cells among which beta cells are responsible for secretion of insulin.
Type 2 diabetes is seen more in adult of above age 40 plus years. So it is also known as Adult onset diabetes.
The specific points related to type 1 diabetes are
•    It is mainly seen in childhood associated with an illness
•    Here extra stress leads to ketoacidosis
•    Major symptoms of ketoacidosis are nausea and vomiting.
•    Without any treatment ketoacidosis leads to coma and death.
The specific points related to type 2 diabetes are
•    The symptoms develop here slowly and most of the times a person is unknown about suffering with diabetes
•    Type 2 diabetes is increased by steroids and stress.
•    {In ignored cases its complications are blindness, kidney failure, heart disease and nerve damage.
The most common symptoms for diabetes for both the types are
Fatigue: As glucose remains in the blood and it is not converted to energy, a person feels tired and tends to sleep
Weight loss: Diabetic people are unable to process many of the needed calories required for the body the weight loss in common symptom.
Excessive Urination: It is due to kidneys spilling the excess sugar present in the blood. Hence there is an increase in amount of urine in made.  This leads to dehydration in the body as sugar takes away large amount of water content along with it.
Excessive Thirst: This is due excessive urination. To overcome the loss of water the body tries to compensate by thirst.
Excessive eating: This is common in type 2 diabetes people as the body makes excessive insulin due to insulin resistance. The function of insulin is to stimulate hunger.
Slow wound healing: High blood sugar is harmful in many ways. It prevent white blood cells i.e. antibodies, whose function is to defend the body against bacteria and cleaning up dead tissue and cells. Which make poor wound healing.
Nervous system damage: It is associated with high blood sugar levels. A person gets irritated, agitated, or confused most of the times.
Infections  : Skin infections, yeast infections and frequent urinary tract infections occurs these are due to high blood sugar level in the body, which prevents immune system of the body to act effectively.
